Who I Am
I am Dr Rahul Agarwal, a Consultant Vascular & Endovascular Surgeon based at CARE Hospitals, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. I completed my DrNB in Vascular Surgery — the highest postgraduate qualification in vascular surgery in India — following a DNB in General Surgery and MBBS.
Vascular surgery is a demanding, rapidly evolving specialty. I chose it because it sits at the intersection of open surgical precision and cutting-edge endovascular innovation — and because the outcomes, when we get them right, are life-changing: a diabetic patient who keeps their leg, a dialysis patient whose fistula lasts for years, a young professional whose varicose veins no longer hold them back.

My Approach to Vascular Surgery
Philosophy of Care
My approach is endovascular-first wherever possible. Minimally invasive techniques — angioplasty, stenting, laser ablation, endovascular repair — mean shorter hospital stays, faster recovery, and less risk for my patients. But I am equally trained and experienced in open vascular surgery when it is the right choice.
I believe patients deserve to understand their own condition. Before any procedure, I take the time to explain the diagnosis, the options, the risks, and what to expect — in plain language, not medical jargon. An informed patient is a better-prepared patient.
I follow international evidence-based guidelines — KDOQI for dialysis access, ESVS and SVS for peripheral vascular disease — and update my practice as the evidence evolves.
Why CARE Hospitals, Banjara Hills
CARE Hospitals, Banjara Hills is one of Hyderabad’s premier tertiary care institutions, with a fully equipped catheterisation laboratory, hybrid operating theatre, and vascular ICU. This infrastructure allows me to offer the full spectrum of vascular care — from complex endovascular aortic repairs to day-case varicose vein procedures — under one roof.
The hospital’s multidisciplinary environment means my patients with diabetic foot disease benefit from coordinated care with endocrinologists, diabetic foot nurses, and plastic surgeons. Dialysis patients are supported by nephrology colleagues who share the same commitment to access longevity.
Commitment to Patient Education
I write detailed, evidence-based articles on this website to help patients understand their conditions before they ever see me in clinic. Topics range from how AV fistulas work and mature to when varicose veins need treatment to why vascular assessment saves diabetic limbs.
I believe the best consultation begins with a well-informed patient — someone who has read, questioned, and arrived ready to have a meaningful conversation about their care.
